Less Stuff

When I was a teenager, it was the ultimate dream.  A pickup truck!  At the time, I wanted a red Toyota pickup.  There were kids in my high school who had brand new or nearly brand-new ones.

I could not afford a car payment, and my parents did not have that kind of money.  So, I settled for what I could afford.  My dad provided a beat-up VW van.  It was nothing to look at, but it got me where I needed to go.

Fast forward 35 years.  Right before I retired, I got a Honda Ridgeline.  It was not new, but it was luxury by my high school standards.  It was perfect for my retirement volunteer gigs and running errands around town.

It was a thing, but a thing I loved.  It was perfect for what I needed.

But my body had other plans.  I had a seizure.

They suspended my license for 6 months.

I could wait it out, but I chose not to.

Though I am relatively young, I think for now, it is time to give up the keys.

It’s a pain both psychologically and logistically.

But it is time.

So, for now, I let it go.

Far well my old friend.
